Hey yall, it's Ryan Andrew from Your Country 102.7 WXBM.  Thanks for taking time to check this out.  Right off the bat I should probably tell you that I'm (very) new to blogging, but I'll give it a shot.  I thought it would be fun to make a weekly post of things going on in the world of country music and events that we have on our radar out here at WXBM.

Judging by the phone calls that I have been getting in the afternoon, Ronnie Dunn's solo career is off to a hot start.  Seems like every time I play his new single "Bleed Red", the phones start ringing and people will say "I thought Brooks & Dunn broke up".  I haven't heard if Kix Brooks plans on a solo career but if he does, I suspect it will be more of a struggle for him.  Since Ronnie was the lead vocalist on most of B&D's hit singles, people will immediately know his voice and Kix would probably be assumed to be a new artist by most listeners.  Die-hard B&D fans would probably know right away, but the casual listener probably wouldn't.  I have always enjoyed their music as a duo.  Best of luck to them as solo acts.

Lots of buzz around Brad Paisley's new CD called "This Is Country Music".  Rumor has it Brad will have a bunch of special guests like Sheryl Crow, Clint Eastwood (seriously) and possibly a duet with Carrie Underwood.  Brad and Carrie really work well together when they host the CMA Awards, and I'm sure they would have great success if they decide to make a duet.  Brad's new CD will be out on May 24th.  FYI, Lady Antebellum is also working on a brand new album.  Just read that they are in the studio working on new material until they go back out on the road March 10th.

As of today (Feb 23rd) we're one week away from the 13th Annual Children's Miracle Network Radiothon to benefit Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Pensacola.  Thanks to your generous donations, Sacred Heart Children's Hospital has received over $1 MILLION through WXBM Radiothons.  We hope that you will tune in March 2nd - 4th and support the children at Sacred Heart.  We'll have a GREAT silent auction too with items like an autographed George Strait guitar, autographed items from Josh Sitton and Charles Woodson of the Green Bay Packers, a Mickey Mantle baseball bat and much more.
